How to prepare for your new floors with Yoder & Co.
Choosing new flooring is an investment in your home. At Yoder & Co. Floors, we believe the secret to a flawless result is a smooth installation process. This guide outlines exactly how to prepare your space and what to expect when our team arrives, so you can shop with confidence knowing there are no hidden surprises.
Here’s your pre-installation checklist
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HANDLE:
- Clear the Area: Remove all bedding, pillows, blankets, and items from under furniture.
- Empty Storage: Clear out bookshelves, china cabinets, entertainment centers, and dressers.
- Protect Breakables: Ensure any small or fragile items are moved to a safe area outside the workspace.
- Disconnect Tech: Unplug and move all electronics, including TVs, computers, cables, and A/V equipment.
- Specialty Items: Please note that Yoder & Co. does not move aquariums, mechanical beds, antiques, grandfather clocks, pianos, or pool tables.
- Safety First: For their safety, please ensure children and pets remain outside of the installation areas during the project.

and logistics
CREATING A SAFE WORKSPACE
- Access & Utilities: Our installers will need access to power, light, water, and ventilation, as well as a designated place to park and stage tools.
- Climate Control: For the best results, please keep your home’s temperature at a minimum of 65°F for at least 24 hours before we arrive.
- The Reality of Construction: While we take great care of your home, please expect some dust during the process.
IMPORTANT PLUMBING & UTILITY REMINDERS
- Plumbing & Gas: We recommend scheduling a plumber to reconnect gas and water lines after the flooring is complete.
- Appliance Risks: Moving older refrigerators can sometimes cause leaks in ice-maker coils; please be aware that repairs for these unforeseen leaks are the homeowner's responsibility
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR MATERIALS
- Color & Texture: Products may have slight shade or color variations from the original showroom samples. Lighting and furniture can also change how your floor appears once installed.
- Waste & Remnants: To ensure a perfect fit, we order extra material for cutting and seaming. We recommend keeping any leftover remnants for future repairs.
- Performance Realities: While many floors offer high water and scratch resistance, no floor is 100% waterproof or scratch-proof. We always recommend using felt pads under furniture to protect your investment.
The final walk-through
Before our team departs, we invite you to walk through the completed job with our lead installer. This is your time to ask questions, review the details, and ensure you are 100% satisfied with your new Yoder & Co. floor.
